Basically, anything that requires you to use your eyes for an intense period (Netflix binging and Instagram scrolling included!)
What Are the Main Symptoms of Tired Eyes?
You may be experiencing tired eyes or eyestrain if you have any of the following symptoms:
Dry eyes
Redness
Blurry vision
Sensitivity to light
Puffiness or dark circles around the eyes
Watery eyes
Difficulty focusing
Pain in the neck, shoulders, and back
How Do You Relieve Tired Eyes?
If you spend a lot of time in front of the screen, don’t get enough sleep, or take on tasks for hours on end, then tired eyes may feel familiar to you. If that’s the case, here are some useful tips to help relieve tired eye symptoms:
1. Take regular screen breaks
It’s easy to be consumed by a screen, whether that’s your phone, TV, tablet or laptop, but it’s important to remember to rest your eyes.
We love the 20-20-20 rule and find it incredibly effective when having long, screen-filled days. Every twenty minutes, look away from your screen at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This little exercise should help your eyes relax for a little while.
This exercise also works well if you are reading or doing an activity, such as stitching or painting, which requires intense focus.
2. Get more sleep
It may sound simple (or even easier said than done), but waking up feeling refreshed in the morning is a great way to take the pressure off your eyes.
