The Perfect Ponytail Step-by-Step
Step 1: Curl hair
Before you start creating a sleek looking ponytail, use your hair straightener or curling tong to curl the length of your hair for added texture. You’ll love the look of this first step once you have finished all of the steps in this tutorial!
Step 2: Section hair
To give your ponytail more height, take small sections from the top of your head and use a fine-tooth comb to brush the hair inwards to create a slight ‘backcombed’ effect. You don’t need to do this all over, just at the top near the crown of the head.
Step 3: Smooth hair
Using a hairbrush, carefully smooth your hair down, being careful not to brush out the height you have just created.
Step 4: Tie hair
Using a thin hairband, that matches the colour of your hair, tie your hair back at the nape of your neck.
Step 5: Add detail
Take a strand of hair, around 1-2cm thick, and wrap it around the hairband and secure in place with a hair grip.
Step 6: Apply a hair serum
To give your hair added shine, apply a hair treatment or serum through the ends and length of your ponytail.
Step 7: Hold in place
Lastly, to ensure your chic new hairdo stays in place, apply hairspray lightly over your roots and into the ponytail.
