Men’s Eyebrows: Should I Shape Them?

If you have unruly eyebrows, the answer is yes, you should shape and maintain your eyebrows. This doesn’t mean that we’re suggesting hours of plucking, waxing or threading, but merely a neat tidy-up. Most men’s eyebrows have been groomed when they were overgrown at some point, and we’ll show you how to do it the right way.

Step 1: Where Should My Eyebrows Start?

This is one of the most crucial steps. Having your eyebrows too close to each other or too far apart are both no-nos. Grab a pencil or an eyebrow shaping comb and make sure your eyebrows start proportionally to the bridge of your nose. You can check this by aligning your pencil straight from the corner of your nose to your eyebrow.

Step 2: Where Should My Eyebrows End?

To find out where your eyebrows should end, simply place your pencil or eyebrow shaping comb diagonally from the bridge of your nose to the outside corner of your eye. This will be a rough guide on where it’s best to end the brow and neaten the end.

Step 3: Tackle the Unibrow

Now that you know where your eyebrow should start and finish, grab a pair of tweezers. Cleanse your face and look into a well-lit mirror. When you spot hairs that are out of place, stretch your skin slightly and start plucking individual hairs. Ouch! The first one can hurt, but you will get used to the feeling.

Step 4: Go for a Tidy-up Underneath the Brows

This is the step where some of us may go overboard with. Look at your eyebrows and see if there are any hairs that look out of place underneath – only these are the ones you should pluck. Over-plucking may be tempting, so remember little goes a long way.

Step 5: Brush Your Brows Up

Now that you’ve tidied up underneath your brows, it’s time to make sure the length of your brow hairs doesn’t make the entire brow look fuzzy. This is an easy step – just brush your brows up. This will prep them for the next step.

Step 6: Time for Some Eyebrow Trimming

Using small scissors, trim the brow hair that looks too long. Make sure you are happy with the shape. Brush over and as an optional step, you can use transparent brow gel to keep your eyebrows in place the whole day.
