With festival season in full swing, chances are, you’ve got a totally ‘grammable festival makeup look planned! You know, one that makes you feel oh-so-fabulous, that’s also meltproof and doesn’t require touch-ups mid-set! So, whether you want a bright and bold look (we’re talking festival face gems, the lot) or something more minimal and light, check out our festival makeup top tips you need to know before you go!
1. Go Bold or Go Home
If there’s a time for bold and beautiful makeup, it’s at a festival! Everything from festival glitter makeup to festival face gems will help make you stand out from the crowd. Glitter and stick-on gems are also incredibly lightweight, so are easy to travel with, and if applied carefully, can stay put all day (and night!). For the perfect addition to any festival look, why not try out biodegradable glitter? That way you can express yourself in an environmentally friendly way!
2. Wear Waterproof Everything
When the music starts, you’re likely to pull out your best moves, which means you might start to get a bit sweaty! So, to avoid the not-so-chic panda-eye look or smudges, make sure you choose waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Even if your festival is more on the chilled side, you could still get caught in the rain, (good old British weather) so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
3. Invest in Multitasking Makeup
While bringing your whole makeup collection is tempting, your bag will likely have minimal room left! This is why it’s a good idea to get makeup items that double up in their uses. Think: two-in -one blush and lip tints, a bronzer that can also be an eyeshadow, or sparkly eyeshadow that can be used as a highlighter. These savvy products will save you valuable space so you can stuff in other important essentials like your toiletries! Not sure what else to pack? 4. Stay Safe with SPF
Now, this is non-negotiable! If the weather goes according to plan, the sun will be beating down on you with little option for shade (unless you fancy sitting in your tent for the day!). Therefore, it’s super important to wear an SPF 30 or above to help keep you protected. To ensure that you can touch up your SPF whilst on the go, why not opt for travel mini SPF? In addition to your normal SPF, you can also get added SPF protection from some if your moisturisers and foundations.
5. Make Sure to Prep and Finish the Look
Who said show-stopping makeup looks have to be high maintenance? Not us! Even if you’re sporting a festival glitter makeup look, prepping and finishing the skin will make all the difference if you want it to stay put. Start by applying a primer after your moisturiser to help your base makeup stay in place for longer. And when you’ve completed your fabulous look, give your face a final spritz with setting spray and you’re good to go!
