No one’s expecting you to book in for a twice-weekly blow-dry (get your mind out of the gutter – it’s when a hairdresser dries your hair for you), but a few easy haircare hacks can go a long way.
Can I use shower gel instead of shampoo?
Once or twice as an emergency in the gym is fine, but a body wash isn’t formulated to get rid of products such as gels or waxes in your hair, and regular use can lead to product build-up.
Do I need to use a conditioner?
Yes. Sorry, guys, we know it’s a whole extra 30 seconds in the shower, but a conditioner can improve all hair types and leave your hair smelling nice. If your hair is fine or *whispers* thinning, a thickening conditioner can help strengthen it. Thick or unmanageable hair can become easier to control with a nourishing conditioner, and dry hair will show an improvement after just one wash with a vitamin-enriched product. Even oily hair can benefit – just avoid massaging conditioners into the roots and don’t choose ones containing tea tree oil or menthol.
How often should I wash my hair?
Unless your hair is very oily or you exercise intensely every day, daily washing isn’t necessary. Every other day is fine.
What about styling?
