Festivals are some of the best events during the summer months – nothing beats listening to your favourite band in the sun and being able to get extra creative with your hair.
At times you may be wondering which hairstyle to pick, so here’s four fun festival hairstyles to choose from – each with step-by-step instructions to make sure you get them spot on first time.
Bohemian Bun
Simple and sophisticated as well as helping to keep hair out of the way, a boho bun can work as an everyday hairstyle as well as being a festival essential. Here are the steps to follow to make sure that you’ve got the best boho bun around.
Step 1 – Start by tying your hair up into a high ponytail. Make sure that the hair is secure but not too tight – the boho look is all about having a laid-back appearance.
Step 2 – Separate out a small chunk of your hair and leave it to one side.
Step 3 – Wrap and twist the remainder of your hair around into a bun. Secure the hair all the way around with hairpins.
Step 4 – Now plait the small chunk of remaining hair that was left to the side from before.
Step 5 – Once the hair is plaited, wrap it around the bun and again fix it with hairpins.
Step 6 – Finish off the look by clipping in a few cute, colourful flowers to the side of your bun.

Bohemian, or “boho” waves, are great during festival season as they’re loose and easy to achieve, so it’s easy to see why they’re so popular. Though they might look effortless, there are a few key steps to make sure your waves are picture-perfect.
Step 1 – For boho waves, it’s best to work with damp hair. Tease a small amount of mousse into the hair.
Step 2 – After you’ve added mousse, roughly dry the hair for added texture.
Step 3 – Create a centre parting using a comb.
Step 4 – Using the comb again, section off the top half of your hair.
Step 5 – Clip the top section to one side to keep your hair out of the way.
Step 6 – Using a large barrel curling iron, wrap the loose section of hair around the iron. Start with the hair closest to your head. Hold for five seconds and then repeat on the other side.
Step 7 – Now that you’ve finished curling the loose section of hair, remove all the clips you added earlier.
Step 8 – Just as before but with the top section of your hair, wrap it around the curling iron and leave for five seconds for the curls to hold.
Step 9 – Once all your hair has been curled, lift the hair from the roots and use your fingers to comb through the curls. This will create loose waves and add volume to your hair.

Fun, creative and sure to last all day, double halo braids are a great option. The characteristic double halos look amazing but are easy to do once you know how. This step-by-step tutorial will break down each section to have you doing double halo braids in no time.
Step 1 – Take a section of hair from the front of your hairline at either side of your head.
Step 2 – Clip the rest of your hair out of the way ready to use later.
Step 3 – Gently separate the front half of your hair.
Step 4 – French plait your hair all the way from the top of one side of your head to the bottom of the other, i.e. plait your hair from the top left to the bottom right.
Step 5 – Next, French plait the back section of your hair working in the opposite direction.
