Benefit

Kelo-Cote advanced Formula Scar Gel with added SPF30 protection is intended for the management of new and old (up to 4 years) hypertrophic and keloid scars resulting from general surgical procedures, trauma, wounds and burns. Kelo-Cote gel self-dries within 4-5 minutes to form a waterproof gas permeable membrane that acts like an extra layer of skin. It helps soften, flatten and smooth raised scars whilst maintaining the moisture balance and elasticity of the adjacent skin. It also reduces discolouration, redness and associated itching, pain and discomfort of scars. Kelo-Cote can be used on flexures, joints and irregular surfaces as well as large scar areas. It can also be used in conjunction other treatment options such as pressure garments. Cosmetics and additional sun protection can be applied once Kelo-Cote has dried. Kelo-Cote is suitable for use on children from 3 months and people with sensitive skin.

How it works

Kelo-cote forms a bond with the stratum corneum (the outer layer of dead skin cells) forming a protective barrier against chemical, physical and microbial invasion of the scar site while assisting with hydration. This creates an environment which allows the scar to mature through normalized collagen synthesis cycles, and improves the physiological and cosmetic appearance of the scar.

Product Uses

Please read enclosed leaflet carefully before use. Start treatment as soon as the wound is closed or stitches are removed. Ensure that the effected area is clean and dry. Apply a very thin layer of Kelo-Cote onto the scar, twice a day, do not rub in. Kelo-Cote self-dries within 5 minutes, forming a flexible, waterproof, transparent layer. Remove any excess if the product doesn't dry completely. Once dry, sunblock and cosmetics can be applied. The recommended minimum treatment time is 60-90 days, older scars may take longer. If improvement still occurs after 90 days, continued use is recommended. Avoid direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, third degree burns and open wounds. Kelo-cote should not be used on dermatological conditions that disrupt the integrity of the skin. Kelo-cote may stain clothing if it is not completely dry. For external use only. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult your physician. Keep this product out of the reach of children.

Tips and Advice

Cut the top off the tube before use. Remember to reapply sunblock every 3 hours. For scars up to 7.5cm long, choose our 6g tube, for scars between 7.5cm and 10cm long, buy our 15g tube. Choosing the right size product should mean your tube lasts between 60 and 90 days – that’s practically one full treatment.
