Blistex cold sore cream is used for the treatment of early stages of recurrent cold sores in adults and children over the age of 12.

Blistex Cold Sore Cream is a white cream available in pack size of 2g.
Benefit
The cause of cold sores is a herpes simplex virus infection. The infection may break out when the immune system is weakened, during stress or during menstrual periods for women. The virus causes blisters or cold sores, mainly on the lips. Docosanol is an antiviral agent that aids in the treatment of this infection.
Cold sores are contagious so avoid kissing and sharing drinks/food with other people while you have one.
Warning or Restrictions
• Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
• If there is no difference after 10 days, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
• If you have been told by your doctor you are immunocompromised and develop a cold sore, do not use this medication and seek medical advice immediately.
• Do not apply the cream if the cold sore has already formed a blister or ulcer like appearance.
• Do not share this medication with others as you risk spreading the infection.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this medicine if you are currently pregnant, likely to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are currently taking any other medicines as this may cause an interaction.

Product Uses
Wash your hands prior to and after application. Apply a thin film over the entire cold sore five times daily. Continue treatment until healing is complete which usually takes about 4 to 6 days.
Tips and Advice
•If you forget to use Blistex Cold Sore Cream, use it as soon as you remember.
• The treatment is most effective when you start using it at the first sign or symptoms of cold sore e.g. itching, stinging, burning, or prickling in the affected area(s).
