Research shows that vitamin D3 (also known as cholecalciferol) is more bioavailable and better utilised by the body and converted into bioactive vitamin D, providing far superior benefits than vitamin D2. Studies have shown that it’s vitamin D3, not D2, that maintains levels of Vitamin D in our body even over the winter months. Most experts now believe that the only form that should be used is vitamin D3.
