Hi! I’m Emma, nice to meet you. I’ve been a beauty journalist for 25 years, which means I’ve been around long enough to see every trend at least twice, know the difference between groundbreaking innovation and a flash-in-the-pan trend, and know what’s worth investing in and what’s not.

Because that’s what we all really want, right? To spend our money wisely on skincare and makeup that’ll make us look and feel great. Sure, we all love the dopamine high of buying ourselves a treat, but when it comes to choosing the right skincare it can all get a little bit confusing and overwhelming. That’s where I come in.

In this monthly column, I won’t recommend anything to you that I wouldn’t buy myself. I’ll tell you exactly why something may work for you and steer you away from the things that won’t.

This month, in the spirit of a Spring clean, let’s look at how to brighten and revive skin now the warmer weather is on its way.

I don’t know about you, but my skin tends to be on the grey and dull side especially when it’s been hidden under winter layers for months. While it’s tempting to scrub it until it gleams (do not recommend) the smart approach is to tweak your body lotion. A simple switch to a lotion, gel or cream that includes a gentle acid that ‘nibbles’ away at dry, dull skin is just the thing.

Me+ Salicylic Acid & AHA Body Serum

If your skin is oily, clogged, spotty, or rough, salicylic acid is ideal. This oil-soluble BHA clears sebum and dead skin buildup, helping reduce dullness. Great if you’re buying for teens too!

Give Me Glycolic Acid Smoothing Body Cream

Dry, dull skin? Try glycolic acid. This AHA, found in fruits, sugar cane and milk, gently exfoliates, removing dead layers to reveal smoother, brighter, plumper skin.
