We've looked to nature's most abundant plant-based source of folate, spinach, to offer our natural alternative to folic acid. In fact, the Latin word folate is derived from literally means 'leaf'. This safe, gentle and highly absorbed folate is just as nature intended, including spinach's bioactive co-nutrients. We use spinach leaves grown without herbicides or pesticides to ensure purity from farm to capsule.

FOLATE & FOLIC ACID: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

The terms 'folate,' 'folic acid,' and 'vitamin B9' are often used interchangeably, but there are distinct differences.

'Vitamin B9' and 'folate' broadly refer to all forms of this vitamin, of which there are many. Colloquially, folate refers to natural forms found in foods. Folic acid, however, only refers to its synthetic form, which is naturally occurring.

Our folate supplement exclusively contains natural forms of folate, along with spinach's natural compounds, without any synthetic folic acid.

UNCOMPROMISED QUALITY

Improve the flow: Folic acid, unlike folate, requires a complex conversion in the liver to be useful to our bodies. Sometimes, our bodies can't fully change all the folic acid, leaving some unused in our blood; this is called unmetabolised folic acid. This can be concerning, as it might lead to health issues like immune problems, liver harm, and possibly even promote cancer. Folate has no risk of this. In fact, no adverse effects have been linked to folate, even at high doses.

HIGHLY ABSORBED

Folate from food is converted by enzymes in the stomach into a form the body is able to absorb better. However, this conversion is not always efficient. Our advanced extraction process employs a natural digestive enzyme to pre-convert the folate into its bioavailable forms in the same way as the body does. This product then only contains the forms your body can utilise.

A hydrolysis step releases the folate from the food matrix–something that can hinder folate absorption from food. Finally, stability tests guarantee that only the most stable forms remain, notably including L-Methylfolate (5-MTHF).
