What is Lutein? Lutein is a carotenoid (fat-soluble pigment) that is naturally found in the macula of the eye. The macula is the most visually sensitive part of the eye, and is a colour pigment that functions like a light filter. Unfortunately, lutein levels can often decrease with age. As a result, it is important to ensure an adequate dietary intake through foods such as spinach, broccoli and eggs.
