Lavender is perhaps the best-known essential oil of all, needing very little introduction. The floral, woody scent has been used for generations to encourage relaxation and deep sleep. Indeed, lavender is named after the Latin word "lavere", meaning "to wash" because the Romans reportedly added it to their bathing water to unwind at the end of the day. However, there's rather more to producing lavender essential oil than you might initially realise.
