Product Uses
This support comes with four metal spiral stays, which should be inserted into the appropriate spaces in the support as required for additional support. These stays may already be located within the support, however it is important that you check the location according to your individual needs according to the following instructions.
This support contains three channels (front, middle and rear) on either side of the knee joint to allow adjustable support for all knee types.
With the support loosely applied to the knee and the leg straight, locate the two bony points on either side of the knee joint, which should be located roughly halfway between the front of the kneecap and the back of the leg. Make a note of which stay channel this bony point is located.
For most users the bony point will be located in the middle stay channel. For this knee type stays would then be placed in the front and rear stay channel to provide support all around the knee joint.
Individuals with smaller knees may find that the bony point is closest to the front stay channel. For this knee type the stays should be placed in the front and middle stay channel.
Individuals with larger knees may find that the bony point is closer to the rear stay channel. For this knee type the stays would be placed in the middle and rear stay channel.
Alternatively, if more support is required on one side of the knee, for example during rehabilitation of medial or lateral collateral ligament sprain, then three stays can be placed on one side of the support with the remaining stay placed in the middle stay channel on the opposite side of the support. Please seek medical advice from a professional in charge of your care if you are unsure if you would require additional support to one side of the knee.
