PEOPLE

Our people make us who we are.

We nurture and develop talent across all of our teams and are grateful to all of our colleagues for their time and energy and we are proud to have such an incredible Superdrug family.

Apprenticeship

Superdrug has offered Apprenticeships for over a decade and has helped more than 2,400 people receive a recognised apprenticeship qualification. We offer an award-winning programme and are dedicated to building and growing how we can help young people get started in a career in retail. We were graded GOOD by Ofsted in November, 2023.
Over 60% of those who complete an apprenticeship with Superdrug receive a permanent role, and in 2024 just over 25% of those who completed the course also achieved a promotion within a year. We think our ability to offer a clear pathway to progression is a fundamental part of the success with our programme.

Learn. Level-up. Lead-on.

Introducing Rise Up from Superdrug! The multi-tier Apprenticeship programme helps young people to kick-start, accelerate and elevate their career in retail! Whether you are a school leaver looking for your first job, a current employee hungry to take on more responsibility or an ambitious Assistant Manager looking to reach that top-spot; this programme is designed for you. You'll get a nationally recognised qualification that's fully funded by us.

The best part is, you'll earn a full-time wage! As well as offering apprenticeships in our stores there are opportunities in head office and in our distribution centres too. Superdrug works with schools and colleges local to their distribution centres to showcase their opportunities. Once the apprenticeship is completed graduates may have the opportunity to stay within the distribution network or move to other areas of the business.

The training and development we offer our colleagues is at the heart of everything we do and we are delighted to offer young people the chance to pursue a career that they love. We’re committed to going above and beyond the usual apprenticeship model by offering a solid training programme, which puts our candidates at the heart of their training pathway.

Unlearn

At Superdrug we love that everyone is unique.

We respect and appreciate what makes us different and how important it is to belong.

But we know that statements aren’t enough, and we will always have work to do. As part of our diversity, inclusion, and equity work, we’ve created Unlearn.

Unlearn is about all of us taking time to Unlearn negative and harmful beliefs, biases, and stereotypes. It’s about every one of us taking responsibility for our learning and education when it comes to different experiences and identities.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Leaders and recruitment teams have participated in Inclusive Leadership training and upskilling sessions. Inclusion is emphasised during every new team member’s induction and is woven into all development programmes. In addition, all team members have access to a wide range of learning resources, webinars, and workshops that cover DEI and wellbeing topics.

As a key part of our business, our DEI strategy has 6 focuses: Age, Disability, Gender Equality, LGBTQ+, Race & Religion, & Social Mobility.

In 2024, we launched Unlearn. The campaign was created to celebrate our progress and highlight the responsibility we each have to educate ourselves, challenging and unlearning stereotypes and biases. We are extremely proud of this film and what it represents. Unlearn recently received a Highly Commended award at the Unite UnderOne D&I Awards.

We recognise that our DEI journey is ongoing and will never truly be complete. However, we remain dedicated to making Superdrug a workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, supported, and a true sense of belonging.

Our goal is to be a force for good in every market we operate in. We are committed to championing DEI and supporting all aspects of wellbeing; financial, social, mental, and physical. We are signatories to the British Retail Consortium’s Diversity and Inclusion Charter, and partner with other organisations and charities that support our inclusion and wellbeing goals.

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy is about creating a sense of belonging for all, celebrating difference, and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and able to be their unique self. We take great pride in the wellbeing and development of our team members, engaging with them to ensure everyone is happy, empowered, and safe.

Beauty Banks

What is Beauty Banks?

Superdrug are proud partners of Beauty Banks, the people-powered, grassroots movement empowered by the belief that being clean is a basic human right. The ultimate goal is to make 'hygiene poverty' history in the UK. Beauty Banks supports people living in poverty by providing personal care products and hygiene essentials to those who can't afford to be clean. This movement is about dignity, self-confidence and mental well-being, but it’s also about change - Beauty Banks support those in need while lobbying the UK government. Together, Superdrug and Beauty Banks are delivering Beauty with Purpose.
