Meet the Experts
Maddy Lucy Dann
A&E Doctor, internet sensation and self-titled ‘long boi’ Maddy has been gracing our TikTok for-you-pages since 2019. Over 943k followers and 36m likes later, Maddy has grown a highly engaged audience who are invested in everything from her hauls and DIY attempts to her “adulting” tips.
As a Doctor, Maddy has seen and experienced the consequences of poor or inaccessible sex education. Maddy feels strongly about making sexual health information and products available for all.
As well as Maddy’s unique approach to comedy, she is also a credible source for health, wellness, and taboo topics, drawing on her seven years of studying medicine. During the pandemic, Maddy used her platform to debunk trending myths and offer reassurance. Maddy has a natural ability for explaining healthcare in layman’s terms.
Max Hovey
[He/Him] Max is a London based writer, creator and queer change-maker that has his finger on the pulse of pop culture and trends. Max shares his daily routines through an achievable, relatable and light-hearted lense to inspire his audience to make little changes to feel more confident and happy.
Max uses his platforms and influence as well to promote body acceptance, encourage sex positivity and champion queer topics. This includes experimenting with fashion and his identity to discover new forms of self-expression and self care. Max also enjoys connecting with his audience through short educational videos on an array of pivotal topics for his LGBTQI+ peers.
Ruby Rare
Ruby Rare (she/they) is a writer and broadcaster on a mission to get people talking more confidently and inclusively about sex. They’re a proud ambassador for Brook, the UK’s leading sexual health charity, author of Sex Ed: A Guide for Adults, co-founder of body positive life drawing class Body Love Sketch Club, and host of the podcast docu-series In Touch, which explores the ways we connect to sex, relationships, and our bodies with nuance and curiosity.
She’s been featured in the Guardian, Metro, Pink News, and Huffington Post, and has spoken at TedXLondon, Women of the World Festival, and on BBC Woman's Hour. She’s listed as one of 24 figures making a positive change to social media in Cosmopolitan's Positivity Index, and is on The DIVA Power List, which celebrates queer trailblazers changing the game for LGBTQ+ representation.
Sangeeta Pillai
Podcaster, writer & activist Sangeeta Pillai is the founder of the South Asian feminist network Soul Sutras which is all about tackling cultural taboos. She is recognised as one of the biggest South Asian feminist voices in the UK. Sangeeta is the creator of Masala Podcast, winner of 5 British Podcast Awards during 2020, 2021 & 2022. She’s also a winner at Spotify SoundUp 2018 & has been nominated a change-maker at the Visionary Awards 2021.
She is also the creator of the Masala Monologues series of writing workshops & theatre shows across the UK & the US.
Sangeeta has been featured on BBC Radio, the Guardian, Evening Standard, Cosmopolitan, Stylist, Eastern Eye, Huffington Post, BBC Sounds, Brown Girl Magazine, the Observer, Women’s Health Austria, India’s Deccan Herald and many more.
Dr Annabel Sowemimo
Dr Annabel Sowemimo is a doctor, activist, and writer. As well as being a Sexual & Reproductive Health Registrar in the NHS, she is co-director and founder of charity the Reproductive Justice Initiative (RJI) (formerly Decolonising Contraception), which aims to address health inequalities and racial disparities. They have been shortlisted for numerous awards, winning grassroots organisation of the year at the 2020 Sexual Health Awards and a National LGBTQ Health Advisor award in 2022.
Annabel firmly believes that healthcare should be about empowering people with knowledge to make informed choices about their bodies. She spends her spare time campaigning on reproductive justice, against NHS cuts and improving healthcare for marginalised groups.
