Benylin Children's Chesty Coughs is a clear colourless syrup. •What it does: Chesty coughs are caused by a build-up of mucus. BENYLIN® Children’s Chesty Coughs contains guaifenesin which helps thin and loosen mucus, and provides effective relief without causing drowsiness. •How it works: It is sugar free and comes in a strawberry flavour. Suitable for children from 6 years. •What is a chesty cough? Chesty coughs are caused by a build-up of phlegm and the cough mechanism kicks in to try and get rid of this excess phlegm to get it out of the body.

Warning or Restrictions

Do not use if:
•Your child is taking any other cough and cold medicine
•Your child is aged 6 or under.

•Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you child suffers from kidney or liver problems or if your child has a persistent cough such as occurs with asthma, has asthma, is suffering from an asthma attack or cough that produces a lot of mucus (phlegm).
•If your child experiences Allergic reactions including (severe) skin rashes and itching or sickness and nausea, stop using the medicine and seek immediate help.

•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor before using this medicine if you are currently pregnant, likely to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
•Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are currently taking any other medicines as this may cause an interaction.
•If you think you may be allergic to any of the ingredients contained in this medicine, please seek medical advice before taking.
•If you have any questions after you have bought this medication, please speak to your pharmacist.

Product Uses

This medicine is not recommended for childrn under 6 years old.
Children 6-12 years: two 5ml spoonfuls four times a day.
Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
If symptoms persist or worsen, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not give to a child under 12 years of age for more than 5 days without consulting your doctor.
If your childs cough comes back or is accompanied by a hugh temperature, rash or a headache that does not go away, stop using this medicine and talk to your doctor or phrmacist.

Tips and Advice

If your child is hot/ feverish: increase the amouint of fluid your child normally drinks.
Lower their temprature with paracetamol or ibroprufen medicine as per the manufactuer guidance.
For coughs: Although it is distressing to hear your child cough, in fact coughing helps clear phlegm on the chest and mucus from the nose. Give your child plenty of warm clear fluids to drink.
To help with breathing: Plain saline nose drops, available at Superdrug.com can help childen with blocked noses who are having trouble feeding.
