Six youth-boosting tricks you need to know

Older woman with a youthful glow against pink background

There’s merit in growing older gracefully – of course – but sometimes you want to inject a little youth back into your look, and, no, it doesn’t involve cosmetic surgery. This is all about enhancing your natural beauty as you get older. We asked celebrity makeup artist Cassie Lomas for her top six makeup tricks that’ll leave any woman looking more youthful. They’re quick, they’re easy – and they’ll give you that extra boost when you need it…

Trick 1: Use a primer

For a flawless base, you need to prepare your skin for makeup. As we get older, our skin starts to wrinkle and pores can appear larger. Combat this by using a primer, which will fill in imperfections and give a smooth finish. Cassie recommends B. Priming Souffle mixed with a little B. Cassie Lomas Sheer Liquid Illuminator to add dewiness to the skin. Apply it with a duo-fibre brush to give a lighter finish and ensure that your skin isn’t overloaded with product. You now have the perfect base for your foundation.

Trick 2: Blusher

Adding some colour to your cheeks can boost your complexion and give you a youthful glow. B. Radiance Powder in Peachy is a great option as it’s not wildly pigmented, so won’t leave you with a clown-like finish. It’s soft in colour and has a little shimmer, which will make you look as if you’re glowing from within. Sweep it over the apples of your cheeks and up onto your cheekbones for a boost of radiance.

Customer Reenabkhan says: ‘Nice subtle sheen. I really like the product . Happy with purchase’

Trick 3: Lift your brows

You don’t realise how important brows are until they start to get sparser and less defined. Give them a lift using a pomade – try B. Longwear Eyebrow Pomade Cream. Take the product on a small angled brow brush and apply it in thin, hair-like brush strokes to any sparse areas of your brows. This will give you a lifted, more defined brow shape.

Trick 4: Give your eyes a pop

Using matte shadows on your eyelids can make them appear sunken and tired, so try something with a shimmer – Cassie recommends B. Cassie Lomas Glitter Pigment in Supermodel Sheen. When the light hits this product, it gives skin the illusion of a flatter surface and makes your eyes appear more youthful. Apply the pigment to your eyelids and blend outwards for a finish that’ll make your eyes pop.

Trick 5: Don’t forget your lashes

Mascara always helps. It gives your lashes colour and makes your eyes look more defined. Use a smudge-proof product like B. Lengthening Mascara, moving the wand from root to tip. This will add volume to your lashes, make them appear longer and give a gorgeous fanned-out effect.
