Last night marked the 43rd People’s Choice Awards, which has always been seen as a particularly special event as the winners are voted for by the fans. Here are our fave moments from the ceremony…
Ellen Degeneres made history
Ellen Degeneres won three People’s Choice Awards, taking her grand total to 20. On receiving one of them, she joked to the audience that the only thing that would make her happier is ‘if it was voted for by animals because I love animals and I think they know how much I love them’. We love you, Ellen!
J-Lo was complete goals
Jennifer Lopez won her first People’s Choice Award for Favourite Crime Drama TV Actress in Shades Of Blue. She also slayed on the red carpet in a stunning black embellished Reem Acra gown.
Ruby Rose proved orange really is the new black
All eyes were on Ruby Rose when she took to the red carpet in an orange jacket and matching trousers. She paired her bold look with a deep purple lippy, which we absolutely loved!
Justin Timberlake still has it
It’s hard not to listen to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling and not feel happy, which must be exactly why it won the award for Favourite Song. JT also won the award for Favourite Male Artist, proving that he still kills it.
Tom Hanks will always be a legend
One of our fave actors of all time, Tom Hanks won the award for Favourite Dramatic Movie Actor for his performance in Sully. His acceptance speech? ‘You know you make movies and you wonder if people are going to care, if people are going to see them. If it’s going to matter to anybody. This is a special honour. I’ve been doing this for a long time. I love my job, and I leave little bits and pieces of my existence on the screen every time.’ WHAT. A. CUTIE.
Fifth Harmony rocked it
We were beginning to wonder whether Fifth Harmony would ever be the same after the departure of bandmate Camila Cabello. But the newly reformed foursome made us question why we worried, when they performed their hit Work From Home on the PCA stage – and totally smashed it! And just happened to win the award for Favourite Group.
Blake Lively showed off her incredible post-baby figure
She had her second baby only four months ago, but Blake looked unreal in a skimpy, fringed Elie Saab gown, which showcased her gorgeous long legs. She scooped the award for Favourite Dramatic Movie Actress for her role in The Shallows. As she accepted it, she praised hubby Ryan Reynolds, saying, ‘Thank you to my husband. He is everything to me. You can’t have him – he’s mine!’ Don’t worry, Blake – no one would ever dream of taking you on!
