Celebrity makeup artist, Francesca Neil, who tends to the faces of mega babes Rochelle Humes, Alicia Dixon and Louisa Johnson spills her secrets to nailing summer beauty…
In the summer, especially on holiday it’s all about glowing, fresh, glossy skin. If you want to master the look it’s really important that you’re using the right products. Cream highlighters and bronzers look a lot softer and more natural than powder as they really melt into the skin and work well with your foundation or tinted moisturiser. It all blends in together so there are no harsh lines and nothing left sat on the skin. Use your fingers to apply to achieve a glow which looks like it’s coming from within the skin.
One thing you don’t want to do is set your whole face with powder, as this will dull the glow you’ve worked hard to achieve! Only set areas such as your T-Zone and under your eyes to keep the concealer in place.
When it comes to eye makeup on your hols, cream products are always super easy to apply yet look like you’ve spent ages on them! It’s easiest to blend the colours on the eyelids with your fingers and they all stay on really well and are long-wear. Metallic tones are really on trend this summer and I’m also obsessed with orange, copper and red tones. If you like to pack light for your holiday, bronzer works really nicely as an eyeshadow.
For so long it was matte everything, but l am so glad lip glosses are having a moment again – I love how they feel on your lips and they're super easy to apply. In the summer, I’m all for a tinted lip balm because you don’t have to keep reapplying and it doesn’t need to be perfect. On your holiday you don't want to be faffing about with lipstick and liner!
