Autumn is here and while some of us are still mourning summer, others are already one stamp away from a free pumpkin spice latte, basking in fluffy scarves, Instagramming fallen leaves and looking forward to Halloween – eek!
Gone are the days of bin-bag costumes and handmade capes… now your entire look can be painted on your face. Pretty Halloween makeup looks are on the rise (sigh of relief), thanks to beauty vloggers blending the boundaries between sexy and scary. If you’re on the search for a jaw-dropping makeup look, think scales, sass and snakes – and you’ve got yourself Medusa. This look can be created with the basics in your makeup bag, along with a green eyeshadow and fishnet tights. Just follow the steps below…
1. Shape the face
Highlight the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes with MUA Prism Highlighter in Polarized Green. Coming soon...
2. Colour pop
Using the bright green colour from the MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Tropical Oceana, apply it boldly to the eyelids, layering it up till you get the effect you like, then blend.
3. Wing it out
Create a winged eye with MUA Eye Define Felt Liner. The more dramatic the better – it’s Halloween, after all.
4. Add definition
Apply a thin coat of MUA Eye Define Waterproof Mascara, then add big bold false lashes. Intensify your brows with MUA Luxe Power Brow Sculpting Gel in Dark Brown.
5. Go green(er)
Yep – more green! Apply MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner Pencil in Forest Green to the water line.
6. Prep for scales
Mix together the MUA Prism Highlighter in Polarized Green and the cream from the MUA Strobe & Glow Highlight Kit in Pearl Gold and paint it across the forehead, temples and cheeks. This will hold the pigment when it’s time to scale it up.
7. Get fishy
Stretch fishnet tights against your forehead – you may need someone to help you with this as it’s important to hold them still throughout this step. Dip a blending sponge into MUA Black Gel Eyeliner or face paint and apply to your forehead on top of the fishnets until the forehead is covered, then remove the fishnets.
