Dancing, laughing, listening to your fave bands and wearing a hella lotta glitter? Yep, it’s official – there’s nothing better than a summertime festival. And this year, us DARE girls are going to three of the hottest ones out there. The dilemma? We have no clue what to pack. If it’s a beach-based festi, you’re gonna need SPF; if it’s in the big city, you’re gonna need a kick-ass beauty look, and if it’s a chilled one, it’s all about the staples. Yep, every event requires a different beauty bag. Here’s what the DARE gals are taking…
From fest-essentials to fragrance, it’s beachy vibes all round for junior digital writer Chloe. Nothin’ but easy breezy beauty allowed.
Hollister Festival Vibes For Her
Fragrance might not be the first thing on your mind when packing for a festival, but I ain’t going nowhere without a fresh-smelling spritz. For strolls by the coast and nights on the beach, this one has gotta be my go-to. It’s lively and bright to start (just what you need), then dries down to a dreamy, comforting scent. I can’t wait to catch a whiff of it while sitting by a camp fire.
Solait Moisturising Sun Spray with SPF30
I’ve never been sun burnt, and I don’t intend on starting now. No matter what festival you’re going to this year, pack some sun cream with at least SPF30. It’ll be breezy by the beach, so may not feel as hot, but those rays are still a-shining, so slap on the protection.
Hask Hawaiian Sea Salt Makin’ Waves Texture Spray
Speaking of the beach, I’m fully embracing my inner surfer gal and going for a salt spray to keep my hair texturised over the weekend.
Garnier BB Cream
As for skin, I’m anticipating a lot of sand, sea and sweat, so my tactic is to keep it light with an oil-free BB cream. Forget full coverage – when it comes to my face, I want an easy ride, so light ’n’ lovely is my motto.
B. Cassie Lomas Sheer Liquid Illuminator
I’m a total glow baby, so nothing makes me happier than fresh, dewy skin. A touch of this on my cheekbones and collarbones is all the make-up I’ll need for my weekend of beachy fun.
It may be summertime, but that doesn’t mean editorial assistant Shannan is putting down the eyeliner. Oh no – her festival look means a smoky eye and a hella lotta glitter.
Nivea Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Spray Black & White
With all that partying in the sun, I’m gonna be feeling the heat. Obvs, I still want to feel my best, so I’m packing this mini deodorant. The bonus? You’re only allowed small bags into SW4, and this takes up barely any room at all.
Superdrug Mini Fan
Speaking of warm weather, I’ll deffo be bringing a mini fan. I’ll be feeling smug AF when I’m keeping my cool while my mates are sweating under the sun. Soz, huns, the fan is just for me.
MUA Pro Base Full Cover Matte Powder
Defeat the heat with a full-coverage face powder. Even the driest of skin can’t defy the laws of sweat, and I’ll be reapplying this throughout the day.
Revolution HD Pro Smoky Eyeliner
I am loving all the bare-faced summer beauty hype, but there is no way I’m giving up my signature smoky eye. And this keeper right here is totally waterproof. Striking, out-lined eyes with no fear of smudging? I’m SO in.
The Gypsy Shrine X Maybelline Midnight Euphoria Glitter
And finally, the festival item that we all need in our festi beauty bags – glitter. My selfies will become unbeatable when I sprinkle this iridescent glitter all over my face and collarbones.
A laid-back vibe doesn’t equal a laid-back look for contributing beauty editor Natalie. Her festival beauty bag is anything but basic.
Revlon Volumazing Mascara
Don’t give me spiel about how my make-up is just gonna melt off in the sun. I’m not going anywhere without a really good mascara, and this one is FIRE. It gives that wide-awake, fat- lash look without any signs of clumping. Get involved.
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid 25 Heroine
Likewise, I’m not gonna give up the lippy. This stay-the-day stain puts out from morning ’til mosh pit, and won’t budge until the micellar water comes out to play. Speaking of which…
B. Pure Micellar Water
When water’s a premium, you’ve gotta get yourself a little pot of this magic. It removes all make-up, including festival-proof waterproof mascara, to give a rinse-free cleanse in a rucksack-friendly bottle.
Ambre Solaire Sensitive Face Sun Cream Mist SPF50
It’s not enough to slather on SPF in the morning if you’re spending a full day in the sun –especially if you’re a wrinkle worrier like me (the sun is one of the biggest causes of raisin skin, dontcha know?). The solution? This nifty little spray-on that won’t leave any tell-tale residue.
Batiste Dry Shampoo On The Go Blush
I’m a thrice-a-week hair washer at the best of times (my fellow curly girls, you’ll know why), so I take a mini can of my daily saviour with me. It soaks up a couple of days’ worth of grease and gives hair much-needed body and bounce.
Quickies Anti Bac wipes
Whether it’s wiping off beer spills or keeping your hands clean after a trip to the Portaloo, these little wipes are soaked with anti-bac. Perfect for a germ-phobic cold-prone person like me.
EcoTools Sleep Mask
I struggle to get enough shut-eye unless it’s pitch black, so I always pack a sleep mask in my rucksack. This one keeps all the light out, won’t leave those pesky strap lines on your face that take ages to fade in the morning, and you can throw it in the wash with the rest of your clobber when you get home
