August is National Peach Month. Peaches are native to China, where it’s believed they bring good luck, wealth and protection. So, we need to celebrate – and how better to pay tribute to the peach than to incorporate the pinky-orange colour into our beauty regime? Step aside, blushed cheeks, red lips and golden eyeshadows – peachy tones are where we’re going. That’s right, the peach isn’t just delicious to eat or a naughty emoji, it’s also a great way to mix up your usual routine. Here are the peachy tones the DARE girls are into right now….
Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Crème in Cashmere
Shannan, editorial assistant
I’m deffo the most extra in the DARE office, so I normally make a beeline for a bold lip. Nope, not a subtle gal, me. But I love peaches, and in tribute to my fave 11 o’clock snack, I thought I’d try out this candy-coloured lip gloss. And it looked pretty darn good. I’m not blessed with full lips, and this stuff made them look fuller and even more kissable than before. Just dab the gloss straight onto your lips and you're good to go. The texture is oh-so creamy and has a lovely cooling effect. Will it become my new beauty staple? It’s certainly a top contender.
L’Oreal Paris Life’s a Peach Blush Powder
Zahra, junior designer
Peach seems to be the next big makeup trend, which is why I was very excited to try L’Oreal Paris Life’s A Peach Blush Powder in Peach. I’m normally a bronzer-over-blush girl, but I was sold as soon as I saw it. The shade really suits my skin tone and the texture is light, which is perfect for my sensitive skin. It also applies really well and smells insanely good. This little guy has definitely earned a well-deserved place in my makeup bag.
e.l.f. Mad For Matte Eyeshadow Palette in Summer Breeze
Sophia, digital content assistant
When choosing eyeshadows, I’m a nude-palette kinda gal, but for National Peach Month I switched up my beiges and browns for a peachy shade. Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, I swept the product (fourth shade in from the right, btw) over my lids and into my crease. First thoughts? Wow, that shadow is hella pigmented and a little goes a long way. Second? The shadow really seemed to brighten my complexion, which is always a plus when you’re paler than pale, like I am. Safe to say, peach is defs my new summer go-to shade.
