Whether you’re going to a display or having a few sparklers in your garden, looking good on Bonfire Night is a must. And on a night when the wind whips at your hair and the air is filled with the sweet smell of smoke, you’re gonna need some pretty sturdy makeup. We’re talking about a look that’s cool and classy, and defies the elements. Want to be bang on trend? Here are three ways to spark up your makeup look for Bonfire Night…
The trick to looking fresh, flushed and fabulous? Flawless skin, of course. November weather can be harsh on your face, so start with a primer that helps to even out redness, nourish the skin and stay in good condition despite the exposure to cold air. Apply a pea-sized amount of La Roche-Posay Rosaliac Anti-Redness CC Cream to the whole face, then use your fingers to apply Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation on top.
For frost-bitten cheeks, cover a blusher brush in Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in Rose Coup de Foudre, then tap on the side of the pot to remove any excess. Apply the blush to the apples of your cheeks, working in a circular motion over the round parts of your cheek that form when you smile.
Now for the signature part of the look – scarlet lips. The cold weather will leave your pout parched, so prep them with a hydrating lip balm like Superdrug Flutter Strawberry Lip Balm. Dip a lip brush in L’Oreal Color Riche Gold Obsession in Rouge Gold and apply to the lips. Blot with a tissue and apply another coat, to make the look last longer.
For eyes that shine as bright as the stars in the night sky, use an eyeshadow brush to pack Barry M Dazzle Dust in Nemesis all over the eyelid. Using the same brush, apply Makeup Revolution Magnetize Eyeshadow in Black to the crease between your eyelid and brows.
Apply Revolution Pro Supreme Pigment Gel Eyeliner in Black to your lower lash line. Finish with lashings of a lengthening mascara like Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara in Black.
This look is all about the eyes – you don’t want your lips to draw attention away from your peepers – but it’s still important to keep them nourished in the November weather, so rub Nivea Lip Butter Balm in Original all over them.
White eyeshadow and a nude lip make for a sultry but subtle autumn look. Use your finger to dab Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer over the circles under your eyes and onto your eyelids.
Coat an eyeshadow brush in the white section of the Revolution Eyeshadow Opulence Compact and tap the brush on the side of the palette to dust off any excess. Brush the shadow all over the eyelid. Apply a waterproof mascara to your upper and lower lashes – MUA Eye Define Waterproof Mascara will stay in place even in the wind and rain.
Finally, the nude lip. Covering the lips in balm will stop them cracking, so apply Vaseline Lip Therapy in Aloe. Once it’s dry, part your lips slightly and trace your natural lip line with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lipliner in Tiramisu. Next, using the lip liner as a guide, fill in the lips with Revolution Pro Supreme Matte Lip Pigment in Affection.
