This week is Afternoon Tea Week (yep, it’s a real thing) so we’ve found the most exciting, quirky and cool places to go across the UK to satisfy your cravings – and your Instagram feed. You’re welcome…

Muriel’s Kitchen, London

With restaurants in three London locations (Soho, Richmond and South Kensington), the picnic bench that the afternoon tea comes served on isn’t the only reason to go. There’s also a generous selection of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and loads of mini cakes, including carrot cake loaf, brownie bites and lemon meringue tarts. Yum!

Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham

If it’s not a traditional afternoon tea that you fancy, try this one with an Asian twist. The menu includes steamed dim sum, bang bang chicken and vegetable wraps, and for dessert there’s things like ginger and green tea cheesecake. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options available too.

The Grand, Brighton

For something a bit more unique, The Grand in Brighton have a Seafood Afternoon Tea. The menu has been thought-up by Executive Head Chef Alan White and includes things like salted scone served with crème fraiche, chives, caviar and treacle-cured smoked salmon, along with Poole Bay oyster, fresh crab and pickled shellfish.

Macdonald Hotel & Resort, Chester

It’s a cheese-lover’s dream at the MacDonald New Blossoms Hotel in Chester. They’ve designed a menu that showcases the best local produce from Cheshire. There are things like freshly baked Black Bob Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese Scones, Garlic and Chive Cheshire Cheese Souffles and Hartington Stilton Panna Cotta. Sounds amazing, right?

Cutter & Squidge, London

In the heart of London’s Soho is Cutter & Squidge: the dreamiest bakery that you’ll ever lay eyes on. And to make things more exciting, they’re now offering afternoon tea Hello Kitty style. They’ve transformed their basement into a Hello Kitty paradise, with sweet treats including Mama’s Homemade Apple Pie Biskie (a one-of-a-kind fusion of biscuit, cookie and cake) and Kitty’s Mud Pie Chocolate Dream Cake. Sounds like heaven to us!
