Fashions come and go – one min skinnies are the trend ticket, the next it’s all about the kick-flare jean – but one thing that never drops off the beauty cliff is a quick flick of liquid liner. So, of course, we’ve been trying for a while to #nailit. But with liquid eyeliner being a fickle fiend – our lines never seem to match – we were pumped when we heard about two tools set to make winging it easier than drinking an ice-cold cocky-t on a balmy beach in Ibiza. Let us introduce you to Revlon ColorStay Exactify Liquid Liner – a roll-on-and-go pizza cutter-style pen – and Lottie London Stamp Liner, aka the super-stamper of dreams. But are they all talk? We got two of the DARE girlies to put them to the test.

When you’ve spent years practising your winged-liner tekkers, someone handing you a different kinda tool can completely throw you off. I’m set in my ways with liner, so imagine my reaction when I saw a mini pizza cutter on my desk… no joke. I thought the girls were having a jolly. But after assessing it, I realised that if there’s one thing I know how to use, it’s a pizza cutter. I mean, carving a slice… carving a cat’s eye… how different could it be? To my pleasant surprise, it turned out all right. The rolling wheel made getting a sharp, defined wing really easy, and after a bit more practice, I think I’ll be a pro…

As a beauty journalist, I’ve seen and tried a lot of liquid liners. They come in all different shapes and sizes, but I’ve never seen one quite like the Revlon Colorstay Exactify, which is in the form of a tiny wheel. When the girls asked me to create a bold look, I hadn’t a clue how to use it. But I’ll always take one for the team. Turns out, it’s a pretty nifty little gadget. How does it work? As Chlo says, it spins like a pizza cutter. Starting at the inner corner of my eye, I wheeled the liner along my lash line and just beyond, to create a flick. From the end of the flick, I then drew another line, this time in the opposite direction, just above the eyelid crease. The width of the liner works a treat with these kinda looks, as there’s no danger of smudges covering your eyelid. And the liner isn’t too runny, so it gives a neat finish. I like an easy life, and this wondrous wheel helps me achieve a fuss-free look that’s bold AF. Definitely a bit of me.

Lottie London Stamp Liner

I’m very much a liquid-liner-in-a-pot kinda gal. Felt tips really ain’t my thang, so I was sceptical about the Lottie London Stamp Liner, but hey ho… gotta give it a go. Well, I have to say I’m impressed with it. The tip isn’t too hard or too soft, so it’s easy to get a perfectly shaped one-swoop wing, and the pigment is fab… whoop! But the thing that’s really made me fall in love is the heart stamp on the other end. It’s a cute and simple way to spice up a basic cat’s eye. And it’ll look fab at festivals. It’s a yes from me!

I usually steer clear of felt liners because the pigment can be faded and the tip too solid. But the Lottie London Stamp Liner is a babe of a product. It’s pretty much pigment perfection and stayed put all day. The tip isn’t too solid, either, so it’s easy to get a fab lash line in one go. And the heart stamp on the other end adds a little something-something to the classic cat’s-eye flick. I got the look by creating a wider-than-normal line, then dotted a few hearts on the outer corners of my eyes. Festivals can be a faff, but this product means you can change your look from day to night even in a stuffy sweatbox of a tent. The verdict? This liner is cool, convenient and a number one contender for my spring/summer beauty bag.
