Searching for that extra bit of oomph to get off your bum and into a quick-paced run? Try some of our top tips to keep yourself motivated at the gym this summer.
1) Find a buddy
Let’s face it, a lot of the time we try to find any excuse not to go to the gym. We need to start by breaking out of seeing it as a boring routine, and instead look at it in a fun way. So, we suggest you drag your bezzie along with you. Combining your gym going with meeting a friend is the perfect way to make gym time a fun time. Besides, working out with a friend could bring out your inner competitive side.
2) Follow a fitness influencer
3) Stop getting exercised about how you look
For most of us, our main motivation for gyming is the dream of having a Kourtney Kardashian bikini bod! That’s all well and good, but if you’re looking for long-term motivation, we propose that you set yourself a variety of motivations, aside from that banging bod’ you’re going to achieve!
A huge motivator can be your health. Just think about how much stronger your body is getting and how you’re pushing your boundaries. But if that still isn’t enough, consider your gym time a way of sticking it to your doubters – and focus on how you’re going to prove them wrong!
4) Buy something new you can only use at the gym
Whether this is a new gym outfit, a new iPod, new trainers or a certain genre of music that makes you want to dance, find something you look forward to using at the gym and AT THE GYM ONLY!!
5) Think of a workout as a way to set your day in the right direction
We’ve all heard of how people can become addicted to exercise – and most of are thinking, HOW? Well, the endorphins your body releases during and after exercise can make you feel great and help set you up for a positive day. Not only that, but keeping your workout schedule on a day-to-day basis is a great form of motivation – once you start, you just can’t stop.
So that concludes our five ways to motivate yourself to go to the gym. We hope they help set you on the right track to achieve your dream goal. And remember… slow progress is better than no progress, so get started!
