Shaving is one of those things you really don’t want to do but you kinda have to – for the satisfaction of having smooth silky legs. To make the task slightly easier, we’re going to let you in on our top five shaving hacks. A problem shared is a problem halved, after all…
EXFOLIATE YOUR LEGS BEFORE SHAVING
Exfoliating your legs before using your razor is a really important part of the prep for shaving. It helps get rid of dead skin cells so they don’t clog up your razor and prevent a close shave.
USE A TRIMMER FIRST
If it’s been a while since you shaved your legs – we’re not here to judge – remove excess hair with a trimmer to prolong the life of your razor. You don’t want it going blunt after just a couple of uses, eh?
FORGET SHAVING CREAM, USE CONDITONER
Firstly, conditioner is cheaper than shaving cream. Secondly, using it for shaving makes your legs so smooth afterwards, you probably won’t be able to stop stroking them.
MAKE SURE THE WATER ISN’T TOO HOT
Armed with your razor, you’ve stripped down to nothing, and the goose bumps are beginning to form from head to toe. Don’t be tempted to turn the water in the shower to boiling hot, as it closes the skin’s pores, which leads to an uncomfortable shave and more potential cuts. Warm water opens pores and allows hairs to soften, making for a smoother shaving experience.
SHORTER STROKES = BETTER SHAVING OUTCOME
It’s happened to us all: we’ve shaved our legs for one of those rare leg-outing occasions, only to spot a little patch of missed hairs: fingers crossed no one else has spotted them. Try to avoid this by shaving with short strokes; your razor won’t take off every hair with long strokes.
