We’ve all been there… you leave home in the morning wearing full makeup, and it looks pretty darn good if you don’t mind saying so yourself. Come 2pm and you think you’ll just have a quick look when… WHOA… your makeup has somehow slid halfway down your face. How did it come to this?

Well, luckily for you, we have some clues to why this may be happening and what you can do to prevent it. Goodbye sad mid-afternoon face!

1. You keep touching your face

Stop right now, thank you very much… When you touch your face, the warmth of your hands breaks down your makeup. You’re transferring germs from your hands to your face, too, and this can cause or worsen acne.

2. You don’t let your moisturiser sink in

If you apply your base without allowing enough time for your moisturiser to sink into the skin and absorb properly, the foundation is just gonna slide right off. Give yourself a little more time to apply skincare in the morning.

3. Your foundation doesn’t suit your skin

If your foundation isn’t lasting till lunchtime, it’s time to look for one that suits your skin type. For oily skin, choose an oil-free or water-based foundation. If your skin is dry, go for one with moisturising properties.

4. You aren’t using a setting spray

Trust us when we say setting sprays seriously work. See it as a hairspray for your face.

5. You’re not using a face powder

Foundation and powder go hand and hand – see them as the best friends of the makeup world. If you don’t set your foundation with a powder, it’s just going to wear off gradually.
