What Do I Need to Achieve Victorian Braids?
- Detangler brush
- Back comb brush
- Clear bands
Step 1 – Brush through knots & part
Using a detangler, brush through hair until all the knots and tangles are out. This will give you a smooth starting point before braiding. Use the tail end of a back comb brush to part hair down the centre.
Step 2 – Section off hair & plait
Step 3 – Plait remainder of hair
Step 4 – Twist main plait into a bun
Step 5 – Loosen front plaits & pin
To create a thicker, fuller appearance at the front, take the smaller plaits and gently tug and pull hair to loosen. Once you’re happy and the plaits are even in shape and size, pull back and pin into the bun at the back.
Top tip: If you spot any gaps or lines at the front by the smaller plaits, simply tug hair forward to cover.
Step 6 – Apply hairspray
For added hold, generously apply hairspray all over. For precision application, spray the product directly onto your hands to smooth over hairs by the centre parting.
