Step 1 – Brush through knots & part

Victorian Braids Step 1

Using a detangler, brush through hair until all the knots and tangles are out. This will give you a smooth starting point before braiding. Use the tail end of a back comb brush to part hair down the centre.

Step 2 – Section off hair & plait

Victorian Braids Step 2
Separate the front sections of hair on each side, roughly an inch or two. Tuck the rest of your hair behind your ears so it’s out of your way. Taking one of the front sections begin a loose plait, starting at the top of your ear. Plait to the end and secure with a clear band. Repeat on the other side.

Step 3 – Plait remainder of hair

Victorian Braids Step 3
Taking the rest of your hair, loosely brush through with your fingers and position towards the back of your head. Split into three even sections and plait. Secure with clear band.

Step 4 – Twist main plait into a bun

Victorian Braids Step 4
Take the main plait at the back and twist into a low bun. Pin into place.

Step 5 – Loosen front plaits & pin

Victorian Braids Step 5

To create a thicker, fuller appearance at the front, take the smaller plaits and gently tug and pull hair to loosen. Once you’re happy and the plaits are even in shape and size, pull back and pin into the bun at the back.

Top tip: If you spot any gaps or lines at the front by the smaller plaits, simply tug hair forward to cover.

Step 6 – Apply hairspray

For added hold, generously apply hairspray all over. For precision application, spray the product directly onto your hands to smooth over hairs by the centre parting.
