Suffering from trapped wind? Virtually everyone will suffer from trapped gas at some time in their life, even if they don’t want to admit it! If you commonly experience trapped wind, you will be all too familiar with trapped wind symptoms and the pain that comes with it.
Trapped wind pain and symptoms can range from any of the following: bloating, stomach cramps, flatulence and feelings of uncomfortable fullness are all just some of the ailments you may experience.
Trapped wind can be caused by a number of lifestyle choices ranging from your diet and what types of food and drink you are intaking, your fashion choices – yep, your choice of clothes could be causing you problems if they’re too tight – as well the speed at which you eat, increasing the amount of air you swallow, which we typically release as burps.
If you are guilty of any of the above behaviours it would be our suggestion that you stop, however if you are a little unclear on how to relieve trapped wind, we would suggest following these guidelines:
Release the gas. Flatulence and belching may not be the politest of behaviours but the most obvious way to get rid of trapped wind is to let it out.
Passing stool will similarly let off some of the pressure.
Avoid chewing gum and carbonated drinks
Drink herbal tea
Take wind settler tablets
Wind settlers or trapped wind tablets contain the active ingredient Simeticone which relieves trapped stomach gas by combining smaller air bubbles together to form larger air pockets allowing gas to travel through your body easier. This also allows gas to be absorbed into your blood stream easier too, helping it to be dispelled from your stomach and gut.
