Only Hair for the Beer
ONLY HAIR FOR THE BEER
- Superdrug customers demand the revival of beer shampoo -
Superdrug has a reputation for bringing back classic beauty products due to customer demand; male hairspray and traditional setting lotion are two products recently resurrected due to requests from customers.
Now stores are being bombarded with requests for beer shampoo after the leading brand Linco discontinued its popular original beer shampoo and conditioner earlier this year. The treatment, which sold for £2.35, was enriched with natural ingredients and specially developed natural hops.
Superdrug last took delivery of the product in January and stores have now either sold out completely or have minimal supplies.
Rinsing hair in beer is a traditional method for restoring shine and body to dull, lifeless hair.
Simon Comins, Superdrug Director of Toiletries comments: “Beer is one of the oldest hair treatments known and sometimes in the beauty world traditional remedies are the best.
“While rinsing your hair in beer may be the age-old way to get a healthy shine actually pouring a can of beer over your head is not only slightly messy, and a waste of good beer, but can leave a rather distinctive fragrance on the hair.”
Superdrug has asked Linco to continue making the product who have declined. To ensure customers are not disappointed Superdrug is now getting ready to launch an improved beer shampoo and conditioner from another supplier.
The new two-in-one beer shampoo and conditioner will launch this autumn and will be on sale for £1.99.
Other traditional hair treatments include using nettles for hair restoration, parsley for dandruff, vodka for a deep cleanse and beaten egg to help restore strength.
