Sales of mini hair straighteners rocket for the summer fringe.
British women have added a new beauty essential to their handbag this summer. Sitting alongside the mascara, hair brush and lip gloss is the mini hair straightener. Superdrug has reported an unprecedented sales increase of the Babyliss mini hair straightener, with four times more sold this week than four weeks ago.
Superdrug believes that the rise of the mini hair product is led by the rise of the fringe. Models such as Daisy Lowe and Heidi Klum have trademark fringes, while Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton are also fans of ‘bangs’. Mini hair straighteners are designed for small areas of hair such as the fringe, allowing the user to straighten unruly hair and create the perfect smooth fringe.
The fringe doesn’t only have the benefit of being bang on trend, it is also being used by credit crunched women who can no longer afford Botox to hide tell tale wrinkles. On the X-Factor Danni Minogue is reportedly eschewing Botox, and in this series of the hit show has been sporting a fringe instead.
Helen Jarvis, Buyer beauty electricals said: “Sales of mini straighteners have rocketed this summer. We believe this is due to a growth of women sporting fringes, and also have had reports from stores that they are being bought by our male customers to use discreetly in sports changing rooms to create quiffs and spiked hair.”
