BEAUTY AW09; YELLOW GOLD

The continuing love of yellow continues for winter 2009. Eyes painted with traffic-stopping bright hues of yellow gives a beauty look somewhere between the graphic 1960s and the heady excess of the 1980s.

EYES

Choose a brilliant pure yellow with golden orange sun overtones and blend across the whole eye area. Either take to the brow, and define, or sweep over and past the browline for added drama. Graphic black eyeliner is use in the inner rim of the eye, and along the lash line. Blend coal black eyeshadow on the upper lid. Add a touch of molten gold on the inner eye for added texture.

FACE

Give skin a velvet soft appearance with light foundation and matt powder. Highlight cheek with coral for added colour brightness, or a natural sweep of rose blush.

LIPS

Choose to keep lips neutral and flat or highlight the brightness of the eyes with a contrasting mauve or lilac velvet lipstick.

NAILS

Contrast the yellow eyes with nails painted in shades of tropical green.
