How to do a blowdry at home

Don’t worry if you haven’t booked an appointment at the hairdressers, you can still look fresh out of a salon with a bit of know how. Achieve a bouncy blow-dry by mastering this easy technique at home.

Hair Prep Before a Blow-Dry

For luxurious looking locks shampoo your hair twice making sure all product residue is rinsed out completely. Only use conditioner on the lengths and ends, avoiding the roots.

When towel-drying your hair, it’s best to squeeze your wet tresses rather than twisting them as that can damage your hair.Once your hair is towel dried, add Argan, Almond or Coconut oil to the ends of your locks to make them easy to brush and manage.

Before starting to blow-dry your hair, make sure you spritz some heat-protecting mist onto your tresses so there is minimal damage.

If you are keen on volume, make sure to add hair mousse to your roots before blow-drying. If you have naturally frizzy hair, simply add an anti-frizz serum or cream before you start to dry your locks.

Optional Steps

For extra bounce and volume, blow-dry your hair with your head down for the final few minutes.

You can then add hair spray to make the look last throughout the day. Remember to go for light hold hairsprays as you don’t want any product that could weigh your hair down.

Can This Look Last for the Next Day?

If you haven't added too many additional heavy products to your hair, it often can. Before going to sleep, twist your hair into a loose bun or sleep in a silk cap that will prevent hair frizz – silk pillows work too.

When you wake up in the morning, simply put your head down and brush your hair gently with a wide brush. Apply dry shampoo to the roots to revive the volume and add light hair spray to finish the look off.
