The Brit Awards were back with a bang on Wednesday night, and here are our fave moments…
Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis were the perfect hosts
Dermot and Emma smashed their first presenting gig as a duo, sending Twitter wild and winning praise from the fans, with many saying they should be a permanent fixture on the annual show
We also couldn’t get enough of how drop dead gorgeous Emma was looking in her full-length figure-hugging black gown. She also nailed her beauty look by pairing a berry-hued eyeshadow with slicked-back hair. Oh and of course Dermot was also looking very handsome…
Bruno Mars proved once again he is a legend
It seems Bruno Mars can do no wrong when it comes to putting on an amazing performance. He did just that when he belted out That’s What I Like and didn’t get a note wrong. People were slightly confused about his choice of outfit, though…
The 1975 won the British Group award and got everyone dancing
The 1975 were over the moon about scooping the British Group Award and described the win as ‘mental’. They also used their time on stage to send across a message to fellow musicians, saying, ‘A lot of the time, people in pop music and in the broader public consciousness are told to stay in their lane, you stay in your lane when it comes to talking about social issues. But if you have a platform, don’t do that. Please don’t do that.’
Their suit game was also VERY strong. Talking of suits, Wiley’s couldn’t be missed from a mile off! We were kinda digging it, though…
Little Mix slayed the stage and the red carpet
It was a successful night for the nation’s fave girl band after they won their first Brit Award for the Best British Single for Shout Out To My Ex – a song that we’ve all belted out at the top of our lungs at least 100+ times. Little Mix made sure to thank their ex-boyfriends for the inspiration for the song, and all we can say is Zayn’s probably thanking his lucky stars he wasn’t there.
When the girls performed the song, everyone – including us in our lounge – got dancing. They looked amazing on and off stage, rocking blonde wigs for the performance and gorgeous gowns for the ceremony. We love you, Little Mix!
Katy Perry, Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding led in the fashion stakes
We couldn’t get enough of the pop princesses’ red-carpet looks.
A house fell off the stage…
During Katy’s performance, one of her dancers in house costume seemed to have trouble seeing where they were going and fell off the stage. We reckon we wouldn’t have a strong sense of direction with a house over our head either, so you have our fullest sympathy.
Adele won the Global Success Award
Sadly, Adele couldn’t be there on the night as she’s touring Australia, but she gave a heartfelt acceptance speech and made us giggle by saying, in true Adele fashion, ‘Get a bit swervy like her!’ as she gestured to her award. Well deserved, Adele!
David Bowie came out on top
Bowie was the big winner of the night, picking up two Brit Awards, for Best British Male Solo Artist and Mastercard British Album of the Year. Bowie’s son Duncan Jones accepted the latter prize on behalf of his father, saying, ‘I lost my dad last year, but I also became a dad. I was spending a lot of time, after getting over the shock, trying to work out what I would want my son to know about his granddad.’ Awhhhhh.
Ed Sheeran brought out Stormzy mid song – and everyone lost it
Everyone went crazy when Ed Sheeran invited Grime star Stormzy to the stage midway through his hit single, Shape Of You. They wowed the crowd with a new remix of the song, and were the only act to get the music industry executives on their feet. We salute the two of you.
Oh, the Brits, how we love you so. Until next year…
