I bought this colour as the picture on the box was the exact colour I wanted and it was on special offer so figured it was a great bargain. The colour in the tube is a bright orange, quite frighteningly orange and I had thought i had maybe picked up the wrong dye but i checked the box and tubes and it did say Rich Chestnut on it. I thought the colour would darken as it developed but it didn't, it stayed bright orange even thought I had left it on the correct length of time. I'm now left with orange roots and dark end in my hair, so i'm going to now have to go back and get another darker colour and start all over again. I won't be buying Superdrug colour again! Waste of money!!

I bought this colour to help me on my way to achieving a nice deep warm colour from bleached blonde. I used this after pre-colouring my bleached white hair with the Amber shade in the L'oreal Castings range. The Amber added back some of the red pigment to allow me to get back to being a brunette. I put the Rich Chestnut on directly after rinsing out the Castings Amber and towel drying. I found the dye very luxurious and felt really lovely as I applied it to my hair. I left the dye on for the full 2o minutes before rinsing, again noticing how soft and moisturised it had left my hair feeling which quite surprised me as the Castings had left my hair feeling a bit stringy after washing it out. The conditioner was pleasantly scented and completed the treatment, leaving my hair tangle free and smooth. The colour was even and a beautiful warm mid chestnut colour .. though bear in mind it was put on slightly lighter hair than is recommended on the box. A second application in about a week will give me the results on the box. Overall I am extremely pleased with the results and the product. I would definately recommend this product over most of the other brand name semi-permanants as it felt so luxurious to use and to me that is important as I like to feel that my hair is being protected while colouring. I am planning on using this colour again in about 2 weeks to deepen my colour and then this will be my top up colour every 6 - 8 weeks! Oh and one other good thing? The plastic gloves included actually are big enough for my hands without having to stretch them slightly and risk breaking them.. and I don't even have very big hands!
