  • Adding Extra Flutter to Lashes

    -Superdrug launches new hand-made false lash collection –

    Lashes are seriously big business, Superdrug sells millions every year. Now to ensure that everyone can pick up lashes that will enable them to create their perfect lash look Superdrug has created its first ever collection of false lashes.

    The hand-made collection has been created to offer a complete wardrobe of lash looks, from light and pretty natural lashes to full on intense double volume. Each lash is clearly shown on the pack so beauty lovers can see exactly which lash effect they’ll be able to achieve.

    Christmas 2010 saw a real trend at Superdrug emerge as customers snapped up false lashes to wear in layers to give the most impressive dramatic lash volume, now the new Double Volume lashes (edition 40) give the same spectacular full result in one easy to apply lash.

    All eight reusable designs offer a distinct look and include glue and full instructions for easy application.

    Andrew Groom, Superdrug Director of Own Brand comments; “Our customers love lashes and they are no longer just for special nights out and parties. This new collection is exceptional quality and offers an alternative to the expense and time required for regular salon lash extensions.

    “Lashes are no longer a speciality cosmetic item for an increasing number of women they really are a make-up bag essential.”

    Superdrug lashes launch 6th July in all Superdrug stores and are available at a special introductory price (until 2nd August 2011) of £3.99 for single thickness and £4.99 for double volume (£4.49 and £5.49 each respectively from 3rd August).

    Like all own brand beauty items Superdrug’s new lashes are BUAV approved (British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection), so customers can feel good as well as look good.

    Recent Superdrug research* showed that 71 per cent of British women feel more confident with a golden glow and this summer Superdrug is expanding its own brand bronzing range, SOLAIT with four new additions.
    The new products include SOLAIT exfoliating body scrub, £3.99, which will prepare skin to ensure it’s silky smooth and a ready base for the perfect fake tan.
    Bronzing beauties can then prepare their skin for bronzing perfection with SOLAIT pre-tan moisturiser, £3.99, specifically formulated with shea butter, aloe vera and vitamin E to intensely hydrate the skin and leave it soft, smooth and ready for tanning.
    For a mess-free tan SOLAIT instant bronzing foam, £4.99, for the face and body is the one to keep in the bathroom. The foam is available in light/medium or medium/dark shades allowing tan lovers to decide just how bronze to go . The tan is quick drying and leaves skin beautifully bronzed in minutes. The best bit, if you make a mistake, is that the tan is easily washed off with soap and water.

    - Superdrug gives their top tips for applying false lashes -
    This summer Superdrug launches its very own range of false eyelashes. The range comprises eight different handmade lashes that allow customers to go for the natural look or to add volume to their own lashes. Customers looking for something more eye-catching can choose the intense volume or double lash for the party season.
    Superdrug has shared its top tips on how to apply the lashes to make sure everyone is flutter fabulous, and to make life even easier Superdrug has a 'how to' video available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzGTb77JTeg making applying your lashes even easier than ever before.
    Always apply your make-up before applying the lashes. Using a little mascara first can also help blend your natural lashes with the false ones.
    Before applying lashes always check the length of them against your own eye, you may need to trim them slightly to get the perfect look.
    When you’re ready to apply the lashes put some of the lash glue on to the back of your hand and dip the lash strip into the glue which is much less fiddly than applying the glue directly to the lash.
    Superdrug flat headed tweezers (£1.79) will help you apply the lashes and ensure they stick to the base of your lash line. These are always better to use than your fingers, especially for adjusting. Alternatively try Superdrug’s LASH applicator (£2.49) to make things even easier.
    Apply the lash to the centre of the eye line first, this will prevent that baggy look in the middle, the rest should then fit along the lash line really easily. The lashes shouldn’t feel uncomfortable on your eye, if they do, re-apply them. They are very light and after 5 minutes you’ll probably forget you’re even wearing them.
    Use a line of eyeliner to blend in the lash line. When you’re using the natural range you don’t need too much, but if you’re using the intense volume edition or the double lash you can go all out on the eyeliner for a really dramatic look. Ultimately it depends on the look you’re trying to achieve.
    To achieve a really dramatic you can always apply mascara on the false lash and natural lashes together. This will help blend the two and look more natural. The best bit is the lashes come in eight different styles for you to choose the best look from natural to intense volume or the double lash look.
